Discover Back-Up and Full-Time Child Care Resources

Back-Up Care

Bright Horizons back-up child care is there when your regular care provider is unavailable. It offers both in-home care and center-based care at local day care facilities. If you are interested, you must register in advance (you pay for this benefit only when you use it). Once registered, you can get back-up care the same day or up to one month in advance, and for up to 15 days per year per employee. Your copays for this benefit are:

  • $15 a day for center-based care for one child.
  • $25 a day for center-based care for two or more children.
  • $4 an hour (four-hour minimum) for in-home care.

Keep in mind that the fair market value of the services you use (minus your copay) will be taxable to you as imputed income.

Additional Family Support

Bright Horizons also provides resources for full-time child care. Through Bright Horizons' Additional Family Support program, PepsiCo employees can enjoy:

  • Preferred enrollment at participating Bright Horizons child care centers nationwide, including a registration fee credit after 30 days of enrollment (up to a $250 value).
  • Tuition discounts and waived registration fees at participating non-Bright Horizons network centers nationwide.
  • Free access to Sittercity, a website that connects you with local in-home care, including nannies, babysitters, pet sitters, housekeepers, and tutors—plus unlimited, free, basic background checks.
Check Out the Advantages of the DCRA

The Dependent Care Reimbursement Account (DCRA) lets you set aside tax-free dollars from your pay to reimburse yourself for eligible day care expenses that allow you (and your spouse if you're married) to work or go to school full-time. You can contribute up to $5,000 a year, but special contribution limits may apply to highly compensated employees.
